--- Team Goals ---

  • Develop a captivating narrative that engages players.

  • Maintaining a consistent narrative style and voice, focusing on character development for Aandro.

  • Design and implement a player-friendly onboarding sequence that effectively introduces the game's mechanics and narrative.

  • Craft diverse and engaging dialogue, barks, and cutscene scripts to add depth to the narrative and characters.

  • A credits scene that is cathartic and gives the player a quick glimpse into the aftereffects of the game events.

--- Personal Goals ---

  • Enhance Narrative Design Skills catering to a mobile game.

  • Craft Engaging Character Dialogue from the perspective of a newborn AI and an egotistic Company owner.

  • Be part of a writer's room to collaboratively create the narrative

  • Learn and use Dialogue Manager in Unity.

  • Explore UI development through the credits scene and create a visual storytelling experience with a combination of AI-generated images.

  • Actively participate in team and cross-disciplinary discussions.

  • Effectively manage time to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects and a full-time job.

  • Use Trello, Zoom and Google Workspace tools for effective communication, task tracking and live remote collaboration.

--- Challenges and Learnings ---

  • Creating a narrative that doesn’t restrict players from understanding the game mechanics if they skip dialogues -> making the tools more intuitive

  • Ensuring a consistent narrative voice when collaborating with a diverse writers' room -> brainstorming ideas to allow for variety and creativity in one session, before fine-tuning the dialogue content to the character’s voice.

  • Designing an effective onboarding sequence that is both informative and engaging without overwhelming players or seeming out of place from the game-setting

  • Build the game world from Aandro and John Tube’s standpoint majorly through dialogue - the player never gets to interact with other workers, yet should feel like they have relatable co-workers -> Through Aandro’s point of view, occasionally describe ongoing activities in the workspace like office gossip, someone being fired, bringing a cat to work.

  • As a mobile game where the majority player base skips dialogue if they are longer than one line, I had to upskill on rephrasing and optimising dialogue to be short yet clear.
